SCOTTISH SNOGS

She’s bright. She’s light. And she’s utterly, butterly delicious.
Our sweet, Scottish smooch is our third Seasonal of the year and back for her 2025 waltz around the block. One of our favourite times of the year, not only because of our crowd pleaser. Believe us when we say this soda not only dances but sings with flavour and pizazz every time.

Think of a supercharged snog of a Scottish dessert without the obligatory toast to a haggis and whisky chaser. For the Southerners out there thinking what the berry, it’s our Scottish Eton Mess. Our Cranachan Seasonal soda is a nod to tradition with a cheeky, welcomed step into modern, thirst quenching times.

Sometimes raspberries need a little hand holding because, don’t we all? Toasted oats bring the perfect pairing, and together this Scottish duo create a refreshing, bubbly celebration of the seasons. It’s our wee but big blend of late summer brightness and autumnal cosiness. Packed with flavour, fizz, and a good bit of heart.

SEASONAL SHENANIGANS + JUICY JUBULATIONS

We’ve been surfing a turbulent seasonal fruit wave this past year. Or years, if we’re being a little bit bitter about the trials and tribulations. Now, to be clear, we can’t actually surf even though Mrs Rapscallion is Australian, but you get the gist we hope. Rhubarb was nothing short of gold dust, strawberries were volatile and battered by storms, but raspberries? A wee bit of fruity relief in comparison. That’s not to say it’s been easy - the stress has been felt from farm to field and fruit to can. Prices have soared, supply’s been sketchy, but somehow, our cans still make it to you bursting with flavour and on this occasion, bursting with berries to be precise.

Although the raspberry hunt has been punctured with challenges, we won’t be scrimping on juiciness nor quality. Last year we ramped up the juice and you loved it. This year we’re doing it again! Expect an even bolder raspberry kick and for those notes to hit the back of your palate. We’ll know we’ve nailed it if you can taste the fruits of our labour.

We’ve also found a dedicated, reliable source of Scottish, gluten-free oats to accompany our wee pocket rockets. Our founder Gregor’s fought his own battles with intolerances, so if - like him - you’re wary of sneaky gluten-laden oats, rest assured, these are the real, tummy friendly deal.

METHOD TO THE MADNESS

How do we do it? We hear you demand. Well, let us remind you. We separate the juice from the pulp and toast up those Scottish gluten-free oats until they’re golden and nutty. These are folded into our finely tuned and delicate raspberry concoction taken from the best of each berry, adding depth and that signature buttery mouthfeel. Then comes a little candied zest of lemon and, depending on ripeness, just a hint of star anise to tie it all together.

The result? A crisp, layered soda where sweetness, tartness, and spice play together beautifully. We finish it off with ice-cold Scottish freshwater and a lively sparkle before pasteurising, labelling, and boxing every can with care and attention.

RASPBERRY BERET

Let us give you a bit of background. Supposedly, a traditional Cranachan dessert was an organic development from a Crowdie (oatmeal, cream + honey). The addition of whisky and berries gave it its Cranachan title. It was traditionally served on special occasions - weddings, festivals, your sister’s cousin’s in law’s brother’s nephew’s birthday - but has become adored all over, at any time. People go wild and adapt it to different fruits, nuts, liqueurs but we firmly believe in the power couple of the Raspberry and the Oat. All of this should give you an indication of what accessories our soda could wear, but read on and we’ll tell you what floats our boat.

Raspberry, of course, is the star of our Cranachan soda crusade. Bold, intense on the nose, strong enough to contend with white spirits and balanced by a buttery mouthfeel that plays beautifully with lighter whiskies.

We like ours straight out the fridge and gulped from the can. A cold can is a happy can, in our opinion. And remember to give the can a little roll as the oats naturally sometimes settle at the bottom.

If truth be told, we don’t trust anyone who doesn’t love raspberries. A bit like anyone who doesn’t love a good giggle. Have it however you blooming like though. Sip it over ice, splash it in a cocktail, or pour it all over yourself and let it all hang out. Embrace the raspberry-ness whatever you do but we do advise inhaling it in all its buttery glory.
